Four of the best... Gastropubs
The Audley Public House

With the end of Dry January approaching, we’re putting the spotlight on a few of our favourite pubs that also serve great food - with music by Playlister to wash it down.

The Audley Public House feels like it has existed on the corner of Mount Street forever. Killer Scotch eggs, half a pint of prawns and mayonnaise and hearty pub favourites like shepherd’s pie are the sort of thing available.

The Blue Stoops on Kensington Church Street serves proper beer courtesy of family-run historic brewer Allsopp's, as well as serving a menu of expertly-executed seasonal dishes created by chef Lorcan Spiteri of Caravel fame.

The Brave is the latest opening on Essex Road from chef James Cochran - with plates loaded with Scottish-Caribbean flavour including jerk spiced chicken scotch egg with scotch bonnet jam, and mains such as Mangalitza brawn, gherkin ketchup, pork scratchings and anchovies.

Cubitt House pubs across town - including The Thomas Cubitt in Belgravia, The Princess Royal in Notting Hill and Mayfair's The Barley Mow - are consistently excellent when it comes to food thanks to chef director Ben Tish.
