A Closer Look: The Blue Stoops
The new Kensington Church Street pub from British beer institution Allsop's

With a history dating back to 1730, Allsopp's is a British beer institution. It has recently opened The Blue Stoops on Kensington Church Street - named after the family's original Burton-on-Trent tavern - serving the brewery's beers, a well-curated wine selection and elevated, warming dishes courtesy of Lorcan Spiteri of Caravel fame.
The likes of Carlingford oysters with shallot vinaigrette; pressed potato, sour cream and roe; and sesame prawn toast and chilli jam make up the bar menu, while the dining room's a la carte menu features small plates such as anchovy toast with shallot and parsley; grilled baby leeks, sea vegetables, butter sauce and trout roe; and sharing dishes like chicken, leek and black trompette pie or Old Spot pork chop, brown butter, sage and capers.
For the music, Playlister delved into blues from the 1940s and 50s, warm vintage soul, 1960s girl groups, doo wop, cajun sounds, rocksteady and calypso, referencing west London's connection to Caribbean culture. Listen below.
